SUMTER, S.C. — South Carolina authorities said they are investigating a possible connection between accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann and a woman who has been missing since 2017. Julia Ann Bean was last seen alive on May 31, 2017, in Sumter County. Her daughter reported her missing on Nov. 18, 2017, according to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. A person claiming to be a friend of the woman came forward and presented "third hand" information, the sheriff's office said. The sheriff's office said it shared the new information with the FBI and also that the investigation into Bean's disappearance remains ongoing.
